What We Offer
Cove is excited to offer a wide range of individualized services with a registered speech-language pathologist in Saskatoon.
Cove focuses on, but is not limited to, the following domains:
-
Expressive language is an individual's ability to communicate their thoughts, ideas, needs, and feelings using words, gestures, signs, or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Cove provides speech-language therapy for children, teens, and adults who have difficulty expressing themselves. This may include using fewer words than expected, speaking in shorter sentences, having difficulty communicating wants, needs, and feelings, or experiencing challenges with grammar, sentence structure, word retrieval, or organizing thoughts into spoken language.
-
Receptive language is an individual's ability to understand spoken language. This includes understanding words and vocabulary, following directions, answering questions, and making sense of conversations and stories.
Cove provides receptive language therapy in Saskatoon for children, teens, and adults who experience challenges understanding and processing language. Support may include building comprehension skills, improving understanding of verbal information, strengthening vocabulary, and increasing confidence participating in conversations and everyday activities at home, school, work, and in the community.
-
Social communication is how we use verbal and nonverbal communication to connect and interact with others. It includes skills such as taking turns in conversation, staying on topic, understanding social cues, and adapting communication for different situations.
Cove provides social communication therapy in Saskatoon for children, teens, and adults who need support navigating everyday interactions. Therapy may target conversation skills, perspective-taking, interpreting body language and facial expressions, understanding figurative language, building relationships, and developing confidence in social situations at home, school, work, and in the community.
-
Speech is how we produce sounds and words to communicate clearly. It includes speech sound production (articulation), speech patterns (phonology), fluency, voice, and the coordination of the movements needed for speech.
Cove provides speech therapy in Saskatoon for children, teens, and adults who have difficulty being understood or communicating clearly. Therapy may support articulation errors, phonological patterns, or motor speech challenges. Goals are individualized to help each person communicate with greater clarity and confidence in everyday interactions.
-
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) includes tools and strategies that support communication when speech alone does not meet all of an individual's needs. AAC may include gestures, signs, pictures, communication boards, speech-generating devices, or other personalized supports.
Cove provides AAC support in Saskatoon for children, teens, and adults who benefit from additional ways to express their thoughts, needs, ideas, and feelings. Therapy may include exploring communication options, supporting AAC use across everyday environments, coaching communication partners and modelers, and helping individuals build confidence and independence as communicators.
-
Literacy is the ability to read, write, and understand written language. Pre-literacy skills are the early foundations for reading and writing, including skills such as recognizing sounds in words, understanding print, developing vocabulary, and engaging with books.
Cove provides literacy support in Saskatoon for children, teens, and adults who need support developing reading and writing skills. Therapy may target phonological awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, written expression, and the language skills that support literacy success at school, work, and in everyday life.
-
Stroke rehabilitation may include support for communication changes that occur after a stroke. These changes can affect speaking, understanding, reading, writing, or the ability to use communication effectively in everyday situations.
Cove provides stroke speech therapy in Saskatoon for adults recovering from stroke. With additional training in stroke rehabilitation, Cove’s speech therapist supports individuals experiencing post-stroke changes in communication and cognitive-communication skills, with therapy focused on improving independence, confidence, and participation in daily life.
